Do all brits spend their evenings drinking or is that just on TV?

That depends if the drinks are being served by a bear.
But if TV has taught me anything it's that we must also solve murder mysteries in our spare time.

Just watched two episodes and it's OK so far. Did fall asleep during the second one but that's because I'm very, very tired.
Will continue another day. Hopefully there'll be a recap to help me out on what I've snoozed through. And hopefully that recap won't say, "I am Uhtred, son of Uhtred!"

Well in pretty much every british crime show, people come home after work, through their jacket in a corner and their keys in a bowl, and then pour themselves a glass of wine. Then they start cooking and have another glass of wine. Then they work, looking through files they're probably not allowed to take home, having a whiskey. Or another glass of wine. And if they don't do any of this, they go for beers with their co-workers, straight from work.

Meanwhile Swedes are well known for not drinking every day but getting thoroughly pissed any time they do drink. But this is usually not portrayed on TV.

Marco Polo solving murders in his spare time between designing new jumpers as he drinks bowls full of wine. 

On Netflix? When does it start?

I don't know, but I am almost certain it will be cancelled before they even air the first episode.

Tonight's episode of Midsumer Murders featured an amateur theatre ensemble with surprisingly good voices. I'm not sure one can find so many good singers in just one village...

Or so many murderers 

Well, there was only one, in this particular village. But there are very very very many villages in Midsumer County.
