Luckily I did recognise Riker. I had a harder time understanding what the two "in a mirror, darkly" episodes had to do with the series (until I decided it had nothing at all to do with it and was just an excuse to make poor little Hoshi a femme fatale...)

Ah, yes. The old mirror universe episodes. (EDIT: Spoiler for a 60s show there. ) They crop up in some of the other series too.

I kind of felt sorry for Hoshi. She was a really interesting character at the start, offering something you don't see much of in Star Trek shows, and then after a few episodes the writers obviously got fed up of having to translate every alien communication so they suddenly made the Universal Translator work and then she was completely pointless for the rest of the series.

True. Though I always found it rather silly how Hoshi (or the translator) needs just a few words to suddenly speak a new language fluently, including grammar and words they haven't come across before...

Time to make some Hot Chocolate and then I shall watch...

Probably Star Trek: Beyond.
I've been getting through the recent rebooty movies this week so I may as well finish them off. And it is the best of the three so I shouldn't be falling asleep too much.

Aaaand I fell asleep.
Just for two minutes but I did end up missing the final confrontation.
But I've seen it before so I know what happened anyway.

It's more fun to see new movies.

Sadly there ain't a lot of new stuff around at the moment.

I've only seen two doctors. Tom something and ecclestececeliston whatshisname. I always found the women harder to like... Always as in both.

Yes, Tom something was the best, but I didn't really like it then either. And the women are the Doctors now so I don't know whether you'd like that switcheroo.

But I've had enough of Who now and have switched channels to watch a 13 year old football match.
I shall try not to google the score so that I can pretend it's live.
