Thanks val. Does this update read better as a starport/environment? People were saying it looked like a ship but it is a building as part of a larger environment

I can see how people would read it as a ship, mainly due to the overall shape at the largest scale. The swept-back "wings" give it a pointy feel that may seem reminiscent of those big star destroyers from Star Wars.

If you wanted to move away from that and emphasize it as a building then you could try to break that sleek outline/silhouette and maybe have a large tower at the left end or perhaps break the symmetry across that diagonal line.

Thanks Val, I applied some advice do these read as starports/as a building part part of an environment? The goal was to focus on the building but make it clearer it is part of something bigger. I'm going to include color thumbnails to help reinforce the starport environment do they help make it clearer now? I'm trying to include this piece in my portfolio.

great to see you're still here Crank and still 'cranking' - (sorry) out those awesome environments.
These are really impressive and so well designed - everything looks like it has a genuine use and reason for being there.

No smudge tool was harmed in the making of this image.

Out of all the colour studies I think that the red and green ones read best, but that's not necessarily because of the colours but more the way you've blocked in the lighter and darker tones.
Also I think one other possible idea to emphasise the building aspect would be to maybe add another lower level like this...

It could even be a lift that takes the ships down to an underground hangar but having the colour scheme designs of the building continue down should break the illusion of "big ship on a flat ground plane".
