It's a bit odd that she'd offer me reimbursements for US stuff, but then again having to see Trump's face on the news almost every day IS worth financial compensation, I think. :hmm:

:shakefist: Stoppid crochet!
Here I've been plugging away for the entirety of a movie and done something like 7 cm only to realise that it's now too small... And that's after trying to get it right several times yesterday. First it ended up too wide, then too short then too wide again and I figured one measly stitch less would be just right. So that's what I used now and... it's shrunken further :stare:

And all this with a skein I'm pretty sure there isn't really enough left of for me to do what I want to do, anyway...

Hmm, what's that creepy, dark shadow on the wall? :paranoid:

*turns on light*

Oh, it's OK. It's just a spider bigger than my hand.

Hope I can kill it on the first try otherwise there may be trouble. :argh:

Phew.

Are you really supposed to have such large spiders in the UK? Or uhm, in England. Not sure exactly what areas are included in the UK, maybe there are some huge spider areas... Anyway, there is like one kind here that can look pretty large if you include legs but even then I don't think they are as big as hands. Not bigger anyway

Edit: I was wrong. Apparently the "large house spider" can grow to 10 cm in diameter!
But it's basically harmless and not aggressive. Still creepy, though. (Teratigena atrica )

Yep, those are the ones. :aha:
They are mostly "leg" but sometimes their bodies can be a bit too significant as well.

They do seem to have been getting bigger in recent years which is not an ideal trend.

...or Cretaceous DNA. That's what they used to make big locusts in Dominion. As if it was DNA that enabled the bugs to grow big back then :eyeroll: (it was the CO2 levels that were much higher back then, if I remember my geosciences studies correctly)
