Like the start of your piece, Micro. Epic scale and the sense of solitude before the huge door makes it interesting. Looking forward to following its progress.

Started painting some kind of cold environment. Have come this far:

Hey Mindbender, welcome to the challenge Looking great so far, is that going to be a character on the top of the stairs? You have a interesting perspective and scale going on too. I think you should go for the lighting now, and DOM I think you should go for the shadowing !! You're officially in this as that's technically a WIP!!!

Right, here's an idea...

I thought of how cool it might be to have Elsa from Frozen commanding a whole army of ice-men from the X-men! Here's my sketch.




It turns out, however, that it is really rather difficult to paint transparent ice! So I will have to give it my best shot...

Hello all, sorry I counldn't join the last challenge. It looked like fun. For this one I wanted to do something with Snowwhite but than I changed my mind, I suddenly wanted to do someting with a deranged fairy called "frozen Smile"...

Cool concept Schizo! I like her expression. Expecting good stuff from this one!

Just playing around with the ice colours. It's very difficult indeed!!!!!!

What do you guys think? Is it working?

The ice men in the foreground should be darker and less saturated, but other then that the anatomy and pose looks awesome, Ice that is untouched is usually really blue, but its mostly desaturated depending on the light it's absorbing. The perspective of Elsa up above the soldiers works too.

Schizo, as usual looking very interesting, and disturbing lol But really cool tho, awesome timing to join in the first concept of 2015 !

I have been working on it since I posted my last WIP up and I think it looks a bit better now.

It's interesting to see how blurred and distorted several objects made of ice look as they overlap each other.

Also, I moved Elsa a bit closer as I want her to be reasonably detailed. Difficult to get the balance there!
