I've finished it now and although I enjoyed it I thought it could have been a lot better. They do seem to simplify the early intrigue and reveal the mystery a little too quick for my tastes. If they'd paced it slower to make episode five to be the end of the series it would have been an excellent climax and the remaining episodes would be better in the following season.

I have now started watching yet another series based on books by Ann Cleeves. I think she single handedly has written the books that about half of the British crime shows are based on. 
After Vera and Shetland, I have now found Inspector Venn.

She must have been insanely busy with writing before Henry VIII had her executedI have now started watching yet another series based on books by Ann Cleeves. I think she single handedly has written the books that about half of the British crime shows are based on.
