:dry: My last update said I should schedule it or do it now, but it was also in the "update and shut down" menu so I just ignored the scheduling and let it update when I was done for the day...

Yep, I install Windows updates when I'm ready to install them, not when it says they are available (unless those two things happen to be at the same time ).

Yes, I get to choose when to apply them and I always go for the "update and shut down" option when I'm turning off the PC but it's the bit before that, when it checks and downloads the modules, that causes my irritation. It's obviously supposed to happen in the background but it results in constant stutters and lock-ups as the required processes steal all the CPU cycles and it's pretty much impossible for me to do anything until the install notification appears. :dunno:
