Get out that spanner and start watching YouTube videos.
Who needs a mechanic anyway? :)

Does anyone here and any idea what the heck is wrong when the Ctrl + F function suddenly only lets you type in ONE letter? It was working just fine for two things I was looking for and then the third time it started going "b 1/43,452" "a 1/876,432" "d 1/87,654"

I guess it might be the same reason CTRL+F sometimes stops working entirely. Along with CTRL + XYZCV etc.... I thought it was the cat accidentally pressing some key or other, but.... I don't think I've done that just now?

Always blame the cat. :)

I very rarely use CTRL-F mainly because most of my browsing is on a tablet and the search functions are hidden away in menus I can't find.

Perhaps I should CTRL-F for the search function. :dumb:

apparently someone else had the same problem in 2016 and turning off hardware acceleration in advanced settings fixed it. Though I've no idea why and I'm not sure what hardware acceleration is usually used for in the browser? :dumb:

Anyway I also finally emptied the external thingy and did a quick formatting. Which did not remove the partitioning. So now I'm trying a not so quick formatting and it's indeed not as fast. I do hope it'll remove the partitioning too because I can't recall how to do that, otherwise

Formatting doesn't affect partitioning. You need to do that through a disk manager.
