And orc with a fluffy goatee? I think it actually works. Maybe you can paint on some eye brows later.
(I find the idea of a pair of rogue eyebrows hiding behind the camera oddly disturbing, though)

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

small things… I guess nothing more of significance will happen here… maybe the metal parts went too far… 😝

Don't worry I fully expect to devolve back to 2D after all the frustration of this month.
It's sort of fun learning new stuff but it's bloody hard work at times.

And I'm loving the metal and its sheen in your pic. Also the way that you do rim light so well makes him look more 3D than my 3D.

And I like the vibrant skin decoration in your pic too, Atto.
The streak of colour and its outline breaks up the dark tones very nicely indeed.

I have been pondering some "warpaint" on my orc's face/chest but that will involve some kind of UV unwrapping which I don't enjoy. :S

You do realise you can paint on top of the orc render once the 3D is done? :P

Feels a bit like cheating, doesn't it?
(But I do know that they painted over bits of Terminator 2 when his joints didn't quite work while running. :confident:)

I did just try a quick UV unwrap and... Blender crashed.
I think I have too many polygons for my PC and I can't reduce them cos I'm already committed to vertex painting for the skin tones so ...erm... I'll have another go tomorrow?

I sympathise with your UV issues. I spent hours yesterday UVing my Orc. I thought I had lost the whole lot because Zbrush appears to have a bug right now where it doesn't recall the most recent directory you saved in, and I end up saving files in the wrong place... a place I almost deleted everything from  . I also have one part, his trousers which you can't really see in any of the screenshots I have posted, which refuse to keep the UVs on, no matter how many times and no matter how many different ways I do it. I have no idea why. I have even remade them from scratch, and that didn't work either   So things are not as they should be. I look forward to making a completely disaster of things when I texture and pose him

I usually don't even bother with that grid thing.
I just pick one of the menu options and if it doesn't crash I stick with it.

Vertex painting is so much simpler yet so much more blurry.

I just load the texture I'm going to apply in Unity and arrange stuff on it in the mapping window until I think it'll look ok in Unity. Then I have to load and apply it in Unity and then of course I have to fix everything because it's upside down or something...
