Did a Jina too. She's fascinated by humans so she dressed as one. Any resemblance to real human pop culture is purely accidental of course as the majiri know nothing of such things. :confident:

(She had to hide her pointy ears and it just happened... )

Today I finally reinstalled the wacom driver again, so I did some work on last month's challenge...
Mostly background, though I also upgraded the table.

Edit: Ooops, one of the tattoo layers ended up under the flat colours. It has now been restored to its rightful place. :stare:

Uhm, guess "last month's" picture (as in November's) didn't get much further. Nor did last month's or this month's (which I didn't even start yet)

But I did start another mermaid. Only took 4 days to get the linework to something I'm reasonably happy with :stare: (might change the rounded tail fins some... They'll be patterned but, maybe they need to be bigger or have more linework as well... :hmm: )

This one is inspired by Palia character Reth (also known as soup boy, though I excluded the soup, unless you count the ocean)

I need to fix the lines of the fins at his waist (I've coloured a bit outside of the lines as I felt the lines were in the wrong place...) but I think I might have done enough for today...

I really love the idea and composition of this one with the finger breaking through to the world above and the way you have the hair spreading out beneath the surface is very well done.

Another wip... shading might be a bit preliminary, I need to sleep on it. Light has not been added at all (nor line colour) and the water surface is basically a place holder at the moment...

Looking great!  I would push the values much further for a more defined and dimensional look, but it's off to a great start!  Loving the pose too, very dynamic!

I tried to listen to CG and use more saturated colours than I might normally do and I obviously still need to figure out how to paint the water surface :pinch:
But apart from maybe some adjustments of lineart colours here and there I think Reth the marmajid might be more or less done... Anything that stands out you think I should fix? Besides the water surface?

Fix the underwater surface. :P

The darker shapes there are too defined and distinct. Try to soften them with an airbrush so that it all blends into a single surface. And maybe darken the background just below the waist to make the figure pop out a little more because that figure is really good and deserves to be framed in a more prominent way. :aha:
