I think you've already done the hardest part. Just pushing the highlights and shadows a little more will take it closer to what you want it to be.

Palian twin sisters Caleri and Elouisa both came up with the incredible idea to dress up as their sister for Halloween. Not that I know if they dress up for Halloween in Palia But there are pumpkins. Anyway, a few edits needs doing I think and then shading - and more characters, I hope. 

I do have to paint Hekla as a pumpkin. Really.

I really like how you've captured a consistency between the two characters while also showing different personalities and expressions. Nicely done.

Caleri is a strict and very "correct" librarian, always wearing her hair up, never smiling, preferably not lending her books out to anyone either because she doesn't trust them to take good enough care of them. She dresses in brown tweed suits, basically.

Her sister Elouisa is some sort of self appointed xeno/crypto/conspiracy-theorist with mismatched socks and various bug based charms to ward off evil, dressing in presumably home knitted purples and a scarf with a big eye on her forehead. She's very enthusiastic and always smiling.

But I figure they both came up with their idea to dress as each other individually so they haven't borrowed each others things; Elouisa had to find her drabbest outfit and Caleri her most colourful. (Both do tend to wear similar trousers and sensible shoes)

Hopefully you see them right size - I see them enlarged and they look terribly blurry.
I guess maybe the snipping tool includes the 150% blur of my screen I dunno. But it doesn't otherwise look blurry to me.

They both sound like terrible people from your description 

lol well I don't care much for either of them. They do have their fans, as all the other palians do.

Added Hekla as a "carved" pumpkin. I thought she'd be easy, just being a big round ball... but boy was I wrong. Took me days to get her to look passably like she should. It didn't help that her #D self actually doesn't look like her official art self. I'll try to add Jina (as more than a "carving" on Hekla") as well, but I'm not sure I'll manage by tonight.

I'd also have liked to do Auni as a bug and Kenli as a chapaa, and maybe Badruu, Kenyatta and Najuma as well... Oh well, I keep trying to do everything at once and not finish any of it... - speaking of finishing I also realised I haven't coloured Hekla's linework yet... but I guess that's a smaller thing than all the times I've realised I still hadn't done her arms... )
