I think there are many in that boat Gix. I remember going all the way to Japan (form England) and buying some cool layout paper made for creating comic art, but I have yet to even open the packets! I fear I just don't know what I'm doin'!

Bergy, this work is great. Just inking comic book stuff is really hard, so seeing such a well thought out and complete work like this is really encouraging and entertaining stuff.

@Gix Don't let that insecurity get the best of ya. Like I said in your sketchbook thread I loved the direction your work is going. Take one of your characters and create a 1to 3 page story in your sketchbook. Keep your thumbnail drawings loose. They don't need lots of details.
I've been practicing at this for 20 years. Its really all I ever wanted to do for a living. If you could see the stuff from then you would get a great laugh.

@Domtopia. Thanks. But open that dam package already. The one thing I did when teaching myself how to draw comics was I always worked on pro quality paper. That way as time went by I was less intimidated by the paper. There was lots and lots of trial and error. The worst ones were either to much ink in my nibs which resulted in drooling all over my page or knocking over a bottle of ink on a page.
But what I didn't have them was Photoshop to fix those boo boos.
Inking was the hardest part. Mainly just trading my hand to be steady enough for certain strokes with nibs and brush.But I always used the best mmaterials I could get.
It sucks cause one of my favorite brushes to ink with are the Windsor Newton Series #7 Sable hairs. But the problems in Russia have made them a rare breed these days. All sold out in my city and not a small city either. Vancouver BC Canada. Anyhoo enough of my chatter. Back to work.

Well Bergy, I appreciate the reply. Although I know the fact of life is, all masters were once beginners; it's sometime very difficult to remember this.

I guess it's time to push myself a little bit harder.

Gix a great book to check out online or in a comic book store is called "How to draw comics the Marvel way." It taught me all the basic fundamentals of drawing comics. Very easy read with tons of illustrations. It was written by Stan Lee and Illustrated by John Bucema. Check it out.

You recommended that book to me years ago and I went out and bought it.
I guess I need to re read it. It's been a long time since I flipped through it.

Then pull that baby out when you have some free time. Will help a lot. Highly recommend for starting out.

Nice. The next thing I did teaching myself was to copy everything in one chapter at a time. Try that out next. Maybe not to day but when you have time.

Love your work. As a fan of comic art (and if you see some of my latest stuff, I'm definitely drifting in that direction), I applaud. It's great to have a place to display personal projects like this. Keep up the good work.
