I've been flipping it back and forth for a while now and I think I prefer this version. It seems to distract from all the errors this way.

A lizard thing. (And I'm reliably informed by the owner that it's a Crested Gecko! Educational as well as scribbly. )



And people with good memories will recognise the way I've recycled the gimmicks and techniques from that old Dragonfly painting. Why bother learning new stuff when you can just repeat yourself until the end of time.
And speaking of time, sadly the two and half hours wasn't quite enough to get the texture to be completely believable but it wouldn't be a scribble without a predictable complaint.

Today was another of those days with a dreadful time-wasting failure.

And in the remaining available minutes I managed this thing...



It's a bit shambolic and messy but not a deleted throwaway at least.

That eye in the light is absolutely wonderfully done!
Do you set aside a specific amount of time a day or is it just that time's up when it's time for something else? Like football

When everything else goes wrong I just keep on going back to the eyes.


I'm a very habitual person, obsessively so, and one of those habits is to have two hours on certain days set aside for painting with a potential extra hour at the end if needed.
When I'm doing reddit pics I like to pick out two refs and if the first one isn't working in the first 30 mins then I'll ditch it and do the old switcheroo, but last night I spent far too long trying to fix that failing picture and then didn't really like that second one I posted.

There's something a bit off with the left side and it wasn't a great likeness either. But like you said, the eyes are OK.

I wish I could have habits like that.... Instead of obsessively playing the same stupid game for hours just because I keep failing. It seemed so childish but I guess I must be a total idiot to not manage better... The last "level" (corresponding to a "match 3 screen" except like I said before it's not match 3) took me 11 tries*! Earlier I had unlimited lives, luckily. Unfortunately that "booster" has run out
