General Scribbles

Quickly done dog. Too quick really but time waits for no ...erm... dog.

This is probably the most unfinished scribble I've ever done (or "not quite done!")
I'm blaming the hands, if indeed you can call them hands.



If it still embarrasses me later then I may do some more work on it sometime, but knowing my shoddy laziness I probably won't bother.

More shoddy unfinishedness.
I was planning on doing a different picture but after an hour of failure I switched to this one and only had half the time left that I wanted...

A 60 minute chinchilla. (I think that's what they're called?)



I would have liked to have spent much more time on it but ArtRage crashed on me for the first time in ages! And being a sloppy "no-saver" I lost whatever scribble I'd done and had to paint the pic twice.
At least it gave me the chance to try out that Shaggy Fur custom brush. It gives a nice texture but I didn't get chance to see how well it does finished edges (I'd have to actually finish it to find out. )

Yup that's a chinchilla - and you managed to capture that soft velvety look fur beautifully, though it's a scribble

Welcome to today's episode of How I Ran Out Of Time.
This one shall forever wait for the nose to be done correctly.

Edit: Did I say "forever" wait?
Well I made myself a liar and waited a few hours before fiddling with it.

The nose looks fine but a bit blurrier than the rest of her face. One thought considering how you don't finish all the areas is to try to do what em... does, and choose the vbasic skin color for the whole canvas and then just add your sketchy splotches for lights and shadows... It'll save some time (won't have the same "left out" areas, though)

I find that choosing the right paper colour is surprisingly difficult. When you get it wrong it messes up the whole painting and it takes ages to realise what the problem is.
I went through a phase of picking cool, complimentary colours but that created a bit of a issue with a couple of recent images and I currently seem to be leaning more towards yellow/oranges. (Although I was trying to get the last one to look like "normal" watercolour paper and so kept it mostly neutral.)

I've always looked on enviously at the way em.. does that thing with his colours. (In fact I'm pretty envious of every aspect of his work. ) On the few occasions I've tried it I seem to end up with a pic that has that bland "colourized" look. Which is annoying.
Skin is a tricky old thing.

And wrinkly.... Eventually.

I hate skin, it's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
