I forgot that I don't know what I'm doing.

I'm just waiting for all the magic to drain back out of the machine and then I can open it up again and put the "old" memory back and then see what happens.

I did check all the relevant codes and specs and the new memory chips are supposed to be the right ones.

One of the DIMMs wasn't seated correctly.

So I pushed it back in and...

Bios Beeps.

*waits until it's safe to open again*

You know more about what you're doing than I do

Much relief.
Sent from my PC.

I put the old DIMMs back in ... after they all fell on the floor.
Then looked on in a horrified way as something fell off the CPU.

What is this? How does this even fit back on? And why is it so dusty in there?
*jiggles thing around until a clicking noise is heard*

I'm sure that'll do.
And here I am with my PC working again... but still with only 8GB RAM.

16 sounded much nicer. But the beeps didn't.

Hmm, maybe I will use that savepoint just over there.
All while still holding the flare that I don't want to hold.

Oh... and the jiggly thing was just a plastic cover that directs the air (or dust) from the fan down into the CPU.
And it REALLY was dusty down there.

I still can't work out why those new DIMMs didn't work, not even with Google's help. They're definitely the right specs according to my motherboard manual and the channel slots are colour coded so that can't be the problem.

If I'm feeling brave next week I may try again to install them but one at a time just to see if one of them is faulty. But only if I'm feeling brave.

Maybe it was the jiggly plastic that made the bios beep...  

Today, I returned to Raven Rock, from some adventures, so I could unload a bunch of stuff before continuing towards where I was supposed to be going (incidentally there were LOADS of spiders where I got side-tracked to *shudders*) and the place was attacked by this really pretty dragon with black and orange flame patterns and just as I was closing in for the kill, it chomped down on me and killed me. Ooops. I thought it was Lydia at first. It's kind of weird seeing yourself die in third person like that. 

Anyhow, since I died I was returned to the spidey place and fast travelled back to Raven Rock again, this time prepared for the dragon. Which didn't show up. So I went back to decorating the house, trying to tidy up the kitchen area. I also deleted all those boring and mostly useless baskets in my bedroom. (Though they'll come back if I leave the house for too long). After that I did a quick save and reload, and found that all but one of the bedroom mannequins had moved  

I decided to go outside because I figured they'd be back in their places when I went back inside. Once outside that dragon attacked. And in spite of having chosen my stahlrim arrows earlier they had now reverted to ancient nordic. But I DID kill the dragon this time. And just as I was thinking what a shame it was that I had to kill such a pretty dragon, I remembered I can tame them now.  

Then I went back inside and the mannequins had indeed moved back into place. Except one of them had a neck that stretched to what I think is the center/origo of the house. Oh well, that'll probably be back to normal too, next time I load the game. Probably.

I always play in third person mode so all my deaths look like that.
The only time I switch to first person view is when I'm trying to pick something up off a cluttered table.

I now have the proper, not-stolen truck in Death Stranding. And I've got the grenade pouches too!
I've been waiting ages for those as I hate having to carry grenades in those normal containers stuck around the suit. I suspect I might need them too if Banj's warning was genuine.
I do seem to have missed out on a song though. When delivering the beer from the farm I got a bit confused about who wanted it and first took it to the Weather Station instead and as a result I missed the trigger point for the music.
I'll make another trip that way to see if I can get it right this time.

I usually play so I see "myself" and my surroundings from a distance, but I started using 1st person view in Skyrim for some reason and now I prefer it. Except when I get Lydia right in my face.

Today I found a kind of "treasure" and then I filled some nasties and found the map for said treasure. I've also helped the Skaals and Ralis (though I know better than to trust him!) and now it's time to do some laundry and go see if dad needs anything.

But speaking of Ralis, whom you probably haven't heard of yet, Val, I have the codes for a couple of tents, but there are many others. It could be nice with those codes too.... The military has tents for example, and Ralis has quite a nice one. Paid for with my money, I'm sure. Might be the same as the military tents, though, I haven't compared them. But maybe there's a "tent" section in the creation kit?
