Of course he isn't. That's not the point of the game 
I figured I'd try peaceful mode just to get the hang of building and such but... that mutated blob thing didn't seem very peaceful...
Luckily it seemed to be stuck.

Just before going to bed last night I realised that I have been eyeing the game "The Forest" which is the game before "Sons of the Forest" and it's even cheaper (about 4 Euro). So I just bought that too

I think I prefer the second game, after playing for a bit. But as in most survival games I think hunger and thirst are a bit too important. It's not like you can't actually survive without food for a while, even if you are hungry....

Started a new game on custom difficulty with fewer and less difficult enemies and survived for a whopping (in-game) 5.5 hours...
Granted I did walk right back into those mutants after escaping them a first time.
