Now to return this thread to the right subjects... After finishing season two of Vikings Valhalla I've been trying to watch some films and ended up rewatching the original Total Recall the other day. And it was enjoyable in that 90s way.
The most iconic thing from the movie is that effect with the head/mask and I remember being amazed by that at the time but it hasn't aged well.

I dreamt I was talking about watching "the new Ashwell Foley film" last night. Apparently I couldn't attend the premiere but was hoping to see it later. I also remember a line of people walking in a ditch with water in it and my boots threatening to be just short of not tall enough to keep the water out. But I can't remember getting my feet wet, so I guess they were enough.

I can't remember ever watching the original Time Bandits.
But I'm going to guess that it was better than that.

I read that Terry Gilliam was meant to visit the set of this remake for two weeks and walked away unhappy with what he saw after three days.

That's a shame. If I'd never seen the original I guess I might think the trailer amusing as a kids movie maybe, but I doubt it has the dark humour and surprises of the original, which I have always counted as a favourite (if not THE fav film) of mine.

*It's been so long since I saw it, I'm not sure it would still be "the" fav, but it certainly used to be.
