I shall now begin my binge
of Fringe.
I've got a backlog of 50 episodes recorded so I'm sure my TV box will be delighted to see at least one getting deleted tonight.
Edit: Hmm, I never realised how many fake lens flares were in that show. Clearly JJ was doing that trick long before his Star Trek movies.

Fringe was a good show, but I can't recall if I got to see all of it... Did it, like, have a proper and understandable ending?

Unlike the nice yet overused CGI things in the Star Trek films these just looked like a bit of stock footage on a Colour Dodge layer. As far as I can recall the show did have a proper ending but it does get ever more convoluted in the later seasons with all the parallel universes.
In my memory the first season was the best before the show settled into the more serialized format but I may change my mind during this second viewing.

Fringe began in 2008, the Video Copilot Optical Flares plugin for After Effects wasn't released until 2010.

And in my memory (which may be wrong) the parallel universe reveal was in the finale of season one when Mr Spock appeared.
