Today I attempted inking for the first time. With a pen. And real ink! 
Some of that ink even ended up on the paper.
I found the experience to be mostly terrifying. Those little bottles are very... "knockoverable".
Don't worry, I didn't. But the relentless fear was enough.

It was actually one of those fancy-looking glass ones.
It worked much better than I'd imagined although you can't vary the line thickness with them.
My thumb is still black though.
