Seems inconvenient, especially if the lid is opaque and nobody saw it get stuck... :P

And seeing as all my painting efforts are going poorly let's just laugh at some more silly animals.

:paranoid: Inktroversy afoot in the art world (I am trademarking Inktroversy so nobody is allowed to use that made up word from this moment on unless they ask nicely, and even then... :shakefist: )

I didn't really feel like spending an hour listening to his case... I can see there are clear similarities between the images used - but I can also see that the original author probably isn't alone in structuring the working part of art into things like "five basic skills" etc... Shading, values, volume, etc are things we all learn about and use, after all.... Can't really claim he invented them all... Still, image examples - very similar. As I didn't listen to/watch the whole thing I'm not sure how he thinks he should have protected his own work to prevent this from happening, though. He did publish his own stuff, after all. Not sure how much more can be done to claim ownership...

Here's someone doing a comparison from uhm, I forgot what he was, point of view:

It's only 31 minutes :)
It's also very hard (for me) to follow because there's text on the screen saying one thing while the guy keeps talking about something else and my brain gets all confused and catches none of it. But I think the gist is what I said above, that most of what both books deal with is stuff that most art basic books would deal with and has dealt with long before these two guys.

Yeah, I saw lots of people arguing about this on Reddit the other day and I tried to care.

I'm not the biggest fan of Inktober anyway. I can't do linework, can't do inking, have no wish to join various social media platforms to post stuff with an Inktober hashtag and I really despise the desperate money-grubbing that comes with it all.
As for the other guy... Never heard of him and a lot of the stuff he talks about is kind of generic.
I tried to care... and failed.

Maybe they deserve each other. Let them post an infinite regression of reaction videos and get The Great Instagram to decide the champion via the medium of likes.

Seems Jake/Mr. Inktober doesn't care enough to respond but another video by a woman, stated that the publisher is delaying the release of his book why they look into this. So - I'll leave it to the publishers instead of instagram :P

I also got stuck trying to watch various art tip videos, most of which were too long, too loud or too basic... Bobby Chiu (or Chui?) tends to be long winded but his little sprout people are cute to look at. :)

Bobby Chiu (Chui?) is great when talking about art but much less interesting when offering his long-winded life lessons.
I haven't really watched much YouTube art since that Court Jones caricature class. These days most of my recommendations are Skyrim mods or that Digital Foundry channel analyzing video game graphics.
