CGAN Jan 2015 Challenge - White as Snow - WIPs

Kodabble: It's always good if people think about art. It's much better than looking at it for one second and than go away. I think it might be cooler if the flames are frozen as they leave the dragons mouth. But anyone can think about whatever he wants.

Thank you all for the kind comments and help with my painting. I really do not feel confident enough with my artistic ability to be able to give valid constructive criticism. I just know what I like and what touches me.
So with that in mind.
CherryGraphics : Thank you for the welcome back it was very good of you. I do like your dragon especially the form of the wings and the play you have going on between the fire of the dragon and the cold is really good.
Kodabble: I like all the ideas you have going on in this painting the ice wings are great, the forming of the snow flake in the way inspired. I also like the choice of colours for it makes me feel cold.
Domtopia: Army of ice warriors well done but for me the way you have portrayed the cape in the wind it is just fantastic it is what draws me to the piece.
Microscopi: The detail of the trees is great, and the barrier wall has me intrigued as to just what is going on. I don't know the symbol built into the gate way has it got a meaning ?

Appologies to all I have left out but this is getting a bit long for one entry and I just want to say a little about my painting.

Valence pointed out that the apple motif slapped you in the face I think it is better now, and the snow falling has gone it was not working for me.

Oaktree: The little badge looks much more subtle now and it's a nice little design too. To my eye the pic looks fine with or without snow, I think the next thing it needs is a little warm colour to the skin. Some bright pinkish tones on a new layer should do the trick with the opacity knocked back a little to let your values show through. Also I think the expression will come to life when you put some little highlights in the eyes.
And all opinions are welcome here, whether it's technical or just an "I likey", don't be afraid of sharing them.

Kodabble: Nice work. I like the way you've connected the big snowflake wings to the body. Those transitions between real and fantasy anatomy are always a minefield but you've nailed it there!

Last wip from me before the final.
I resized the massive head and since then have been boring myself senseless with pixel hair detail and numerous layers of shading so soft that it's almost not there. You work for hours and the image looks no different from when you started the session. But it slowly progresses with time.
Earlier on, while lurching from one disaster to another, I said that the eyes were the only thing keeping me going but now I think they're the weakest part of the picture. They'll have to do though, I'm kinda done with "proper painting" and I want to use the last hours playing with my snowflake brushes and using layer effects to boost the glare. I might have a go at snowflake jewellery if I have the time but I suspect the deadline will steal that idea.

Valence: waw Valence, really, really, really nice. I don't know if the cyborg-look ala ghost in the shell in the eyes was deliberate, but I kinda like. She's looking at things beyond simple surroundings, like trough objects into space, very powerfull. The only thing a would add is a bit more detail and sharpness in the upper edge of the 'cloth'(?) over her boosem so it matches the sharpness and detail of the hair and face. O and in portraits in the background l always like a shadow-side and a light side behind the character, but ofcours all the comments are personal. Wel anyway, seems I already found my number one.

that is really beautiful Valence, her face is stunning, vulnerable but intense. The issue I have is her boobs, they look too small width wise for her frame, and a bit high and 'Barbie' like. They also seem a little 'gratuitous' if you know what I mean. The image is striking without them and if you cut the image just above the breasts, to me it has more impact. Less porn star like.
Anyway that's purely my opinion of course! carry on as you were ha ha
