This is just a cell phone photo of my latest painting for the vet clinic. It's based of of Manet's A Bar at the Folies Bergeres. Of course, I had to make it A Bear at the Folies Bergeres. Nothing else would do!

Nice, please post back with the next images - I'm just about to start a different tack of painting waterscapes, so I'm interested to see where this goes. (It looks like a waterfall altar thing to me, but sorry if I've completely misinterpreted.)

Seeing as it's Folies Be(a)rgeres that would be a bar counter (a bear counter!? sorry couldn't resist) and a mirror, behind a bear whom I think will be wearing a nice little dress... :) No waterfalls included, I suspect. Though I see how one can interpret the bluish counter as water not knowing the subject.

I've done more work on it now, hopefully the marble bar looks less like a waterfall at this point (yes, I see it too. lol)

Thanks, Kaz! I'm really having fun on this one. It seemed overwhelming at first, but ... one bottle at a time... it's easier. Kind of like cleaning the house. ;)

Evilrobot, that's the thing I miss the most when I work traditional.... no ctrl z!

Kaz and Charlotte, of course I had to have real references. It would be less than authentic otherwise! (no absinthe for me though)
