ooh I just closed the site (boss is about) and opened it again after 5 mins or so an it logged me straight in? Is HAL playing nice today?

Quick question Kaz, did you happen to have another window open on your computer with the same browser? Reason I ask, is that I noticed if you have another window open, (which I normally do for the on-line radio I listen to) it doesn't boot you. It's like the browser isn't really being shut down, because there's still at least one active window.

At least that's my guess on how it appears to work?

no I actually closed IE Dave as my boss was at my laptop, well I think I did! argh, now you've got me thinking! I definitely closed the tab though which then normally requires login

:) I just noticed it would do that when I kept one window open. But to be honest, I can't recall which browser it was! :D

I've been having serious problems staying logged in.

I log in the normal way, and it shows that I have at the top, but when I navigate to any new page, it logs out again. It wouldn't even let stay logged in to use the quick reply (I thought it had worked, but it didn't) - it seems that any time there's a screen refresh it bumps me out.

It worked perfectly fine to start with, but the last couple of weeks I haven't been able to stay logged in at home (I'm typing this on my work machine)

There was a change to the site possibly around that time which was intended to fix this very problem. If you haven't done so already I would try clearing the cache. If that didn't/hasn't worked I'll need to do some checking.

Which browser and url are you using to access the site?

At home and at work I'm using Macs with Safari. I'll need to check what version at home, but the work one is 5.0.3

I did try emptying the cache (I do it regularly anyway) but to no avail. As to the URL - at home I favourited the front page the day the site was active, but at work I've favourited the main forum page (and it was a bit later). I'll copy the link I have here to home, and see if that makes any difference.

My home computer lets me stay logged in, but at work I have to log in every time. I haven't paid attention to whether it logs me out again if I go to another page (that's assuming you can only tell when you try to post or by looking up in the corner). At work we use IE and I only got back there Thursday so I don't think there's any old crap in the cache... Not much of a problem for me, though - the forum has been fairly quiet and I've been able to check what new messages have been posted anyway.

Come to think of it I think I posted in the monthly challenge thread from work, so I guess it doesn't log me out until I leave the site (I think it does even if the browser is still open).

Any an all misspellings are henceforth blamed on the cats.

I've noticed it does indeed log me out after some time. Though not sure what that time frame is. Just know if I leave it open while working, it sometimes has booted me when I return. Best guess would be more then 60 or even 90 minutes or so?

Still can't stay logged in at home at all.

Technical info - my home Mac is using Safari 4.1.3 (it's a few years old)
