I'm using Firefox, safari & IE, safaris the only one that has timed me out, but it's also the inly time i've been inactive ( I can't bear to be away from here)!

Safari on a Mac here.
And just to be clear, it happens when I navigate away and come back later. I'm not sure if I'd time out in an inactive open window or not, but I'd assume so.
(Oooh, 4th post! Last chance, reCaptcha!)

I think it logs out regardless of whether you're on the page. I'm pretty sure it's a timeout if you does post on/browse the forums.

In that case it is the same issue Joe and others mentioned. The remember me option is failing to remember people (something I have never used in my life so I didn't notice it wasn't working until it was pointed out to me).

I've revealed the remember me checkbox which was previously hidden. It currently defaults to selected, but I'm going to change it to unselected and see if it makes any difference if people manually select it themselves when logging in.

I thought that was new. Your suggestion doesn't work I'm afraid, I already tried it.

Ok, started testing using IE while at work today. After reading Nick's post above, I tried the navigating away from the site thing, and when I returned, I was still shown as being on and didn't have to re-login. ... But if I close the browser itself, then I do have to log back in.

Heading out in an hour for a meeting, so will see if I get booted off while I'm gone. Should be around 3 hours or so.

PS - Also doesn't seem to matter if I click/check the (now manual) remember me box.

Using chrome on my iPad I stayed logged on all day, even when I closed the browser but overnight it kicked me off (did Dave-bot know I was asleep...creepy) and the remember me thing didn't work.

Thanks. The very occasional booting out may happen when I'm changing something behind the scenes (which I have been doing a lot the past few days). If it happens regularly and consistently, then it's a problem.
