Transparent animated gif

The last few emotes I uploaded here have all had to have solid backgrounds. I've had no way to consistently output animated gifs with transparent backgrounds because the only piece of software I have that is capable of doing it is an ancient version of Image Ready which isn't even made any more  , and that struggles with some animations producing a garbled mess (it also requires manually recreating the animation from an image sequence which is slow and painful).

Unrelated to Clip Studio but the gif thing reminded me...
I updated FireAlpaca the other day and they have timelapse options to save as an animated PNG!?
I didn't even know that they existed. :dumb:

There were animated PNGs way back in the Amiga days, it just never took off in spite of the fact they were better quality and gif was a licensed format that cost money.

I've just tried in FireAlpaca and their animated gifs are not transparent either. :nope:
Apparently the animated pngs do have a transparent option but I can't prove it cos I don't have any other app that can recognise them after I save it. :dumb:

webp??? :rage:

Easily my least favourite file format.
I have to open them in Windows Paint to convert them to jpegs. :shakefist:

Lucky you.
I bet you've never heard of avif too.
In a way avif is even more annoying but thankfully they're currently much rarer. Webp is becoming far too common for my liking.

I start painting something, look up some reference pics, download them, drag them into ArtRage... Nothing happens. Try again... Nothing happens. Check the file. It's webp.
I then waste time opening up Windows Paint to convert everything. :eyeroll:

I'd probably just take a screenshot with the snipping tool (or right click, copy image), of the ref and paste it into my file while I work... But no, never heard of avif either...

Yeah, I'm not a fan either. I normally use this: vertexshare.com/webp-converter.html (the downloadable app), you just drag and drop a load of files into the window and click the button to convert to jpeg or png (or do the reverse).
