Sorry all for the confusion, but then cakes confuse me a lot - is a Jaffa cake a cake or a biscuit? Tea cakes, bread or cake? Bakewell tarts? Icing or no? It's a minefield out there!
Oh, and in this instance I meant the protection OF cakes. Someone needs to protect our worlds dependency on sugar!

You should try being Swedish...
Cake = Tårta
but
Tart = Fruktpaj
Pie = Paj ( :woohoo: they're even pronounced the same)
Cookie = Kaka
but
Tea cake = Tekaka
and
Chocolate cake = kladdkaka (literally messy/gooey cake, or chokladtårta if it's not gooey)
Biscuit = Kex
but
Macaron = Biskvi
... :huh:

oh and gingerbreads = pepparkakor (though there's no pepper in them)
and Biscuit is also Skorpa....

EDIT: and I think Jaffa cakes look like they're biscuits.... *googled*

The whole cake/biscuit debate has already been dealt with but I can never remember the correct answer.
Cakes go hard when they go stale and biscuits go soft - I havent got any Jaffa cakes right now to find out what they do - Sorry! :?
And what about donuts? A friend of mine recently had a wedding cake made of donuts but are donuts themselves cakes and therefore is a cake made of donuts a cake of cakes? A gestalt cake if you will?
