Maybe it's been mentioned here before but I noticed recently that Blender has an asset pack of  base mesh models  available to download.
However you do need one of the more recent versions of Blender to open them.

I tried to download them and went through most of the hoops of signing in with google but I think I was probably at the last hurdle "create an account" when I decided to ... not. :shrug:

I usually think my old account will be used for the junk and any new accounts will be kept "clean" and then either I get them mixed up or some business gets hacked* and the email becomes a junk account anyway. :shrug:

...and those models are pretty good. Especially the FBX versions that have the blend shapes and the armature. I had to fiddle about with the materials for the eyes and eyelashes to get the transparency working there but I think I've worked it out even if I don't quite understand the separate textures for the cornea and "occlusion" of the eyes. :dunno:

But by far the most amazing thing is how they all instantly become rubbish once I try to sculpt and modify them. :lol:

With Blender it's just the material transparency you have to fiddle with by activating the screen space refraction and the alpha hash.
Also the hierarchy of the armature isn't quite right. When you open the mouth by moving the jaw the eyeballs pop out. :lol:
