My base STILL looks like a crappy isometric mobile game. :pout:

I don't understand why this one is becoming so difficult and so terrible. :dunno:

If I had another idea I would switch to it but...

Maybe try to unify the colours a bit? Like you said, they do look like three separate pictures - and the pics we see of space objects are usually coloured so we'll see better...

I did a quick and dirty paint-over to see if I could show what I mean but I'm not sure it helped much as everything just became duller and less crisp...

It might be easier if you actually used more than one layer, for once... Or it might still not work.

I've fiddled about with camera settings and finally got something a bit closer to my original sketch in composition. It's always a pain in the but trying to get the camera in the right place to get a decent composition and not end up with a million tangents all over the shop (everything managed to line up with the horizon wherever the camera was). I now have spacemans too. Time to science Photoshop the crap out of it

In a piece of shocking news, I can for once confirm that my picture is indeed on two (TWO!) layers just so that I can fiddle with that brightly coloured bit separately. :woohoo:

Doesn't help my poor perspective though.

But Banj's base is working well. :aha:
I'm envious of its lovely solid appearance.

It's a slippery slope. Before you know it you'll have hundreds of layers, layer groups, layer masks, group layers. One day it'll take an hour to open your document and another hour to find the layer you want to edit.

I don't actually use all that many many layers myself. I usually flatten and merge stuff fairly often and keep separate iterations so I can go back if necessary. It usually comes down to whether things might need changing at a later date

Well maybe you don't use so many many layers because experience told you not to
Also, it probably takes you an hour to find the right iteration instead....

Time to try a different idea that I had last night... :woohoo:

*scribbles for two hours*

...that also doesn't work. :pout:

It seemed like such a good idea when I wasn't painting it.

It always does. Amazing ideas, until you try putting them down on paper (or screen)...
