That's usually the point where some raptors show up....

I have killed individual raptors before. Once with the help of a Parasaur and that very early encounter when I bashed a low level one with just a torch. I think we killed each other at the same time then.
But as with most games (Witcher and drowners, Skyrim and Falmer, etc.) I struggle against groups so I'm not looking forward to raptor gangs.
And I think I will need to build on my raft despite saying I wouldn't. I'd just put a storage box, campfire and a sleeping bag on it but it wasn't really enough for what I was trying to do so... time to start gathering wood/thatch again.

Not that I've played in ages. Probably since that last raptor pair killed me...

After getting yet another YouTube recommendation for a "wasn't Oblivion good" video I have given in to temptation and installed Oblivion.

Speaking of which, the mist finally cleared in Morrowind meaning that I could actually see again.
So I went into that Dwemer place and discovered that it was so dark down there that I couldn't see.

But I fumbled around in the gloom and found the tube that I was asked to retrieve.
Now on to Khuul.

Makes me glad I never got to that quest with the Boots of Blinding Speed. They apparently make your eyesight even worse.

I had a coat or cloak that reduced magic effects which appeared to counter it, so I wore the boots and sped around the countryside oblivious to the fact I was supposedly meant to be blind while wearing them. I didn't realise until I removed the coat at some point and wondered why it was really dark all of a sudden.

Maybe I should continue that game at some point.

sounds to me like you're supposed to combine the boots and cloak...
