I almost finished my little boathouse/pier thingy. Looks dreadful and I can't reach the last/furthest corner of the roof... but whatever. The raft is still on the other side anyway...
I also ventured into my first cave. I didn't see any critters at all but didn't dare go too far. I came back with a few crystals and even fewer chunks of metal though. It's supposed to be the location of lots of metal and a few of those dossier/note thingies but I guess I didn't go far enough.
The trip to the cave was largely uneventful too, except I killed a pachysaurus, which I feel bad about. I thought it was a carnivore and it's possible it didn't attack until after I shot at it with my new crossbow, which seems very trigger happy...
EDIT: oh and.... I feel like a klingon in this outfit...

Have you tried any of the other maps yet?
While watching building tutorial videos I noticed that a lot of them were on the Valguero map and I really liked the look of that landscape. However I'm a bit wary of trying anything different because of the odd way the game saves and I'm worried about losing the character I've spent hours leveling so far. And because I'm playing via "the cloud" I don't have any local saves to back up either.
I know that the obelisks give some kind of character upload options so I'll see what happens when I get there but I wish they were a little clearer about how map switching works.

I did decide to try another map a few days ago, only to find that they need to be installed separately (so apparently 60 GB for each map). I decided I couldn't be bothered.

From what I've read, the upload lets you transfer your character/dinos to another map but I can't work out if it duplicates them or if it removes them from the first map. Available information is a bit contradictory.
I obviously wouldn't have an issue with the install (I think?) but only using cloud saves makes it a bit risky. I'll probably chicken out again.

I went looking for that beehive but didn't find it, or any notes. I did find a couple of raptors though.. I decided to jump to my death so that I could easily retrieve my stuff close to the raft but... the raptors jumped too - and unlike me they survived the fall. Dang them. Then they attacked my raft (the hut) so I had to sail off and am now sitting at a distance, waiting for some unsuspecting herbivore to hopefully lead them away... (I wasn't carrying anything but armour and ammo, though)

I don't think the creatures, including bees, necessarily spawn in exactly the same places for everyone so the beehive may just be in that vague area somewhere.
Oh, and the Conan game is now not gonna be free on Epic because of.... reasons.

Didn't see them mention it anywhere, though.
As for the bees I have been scouring that "general area" and the game map says it should be there! Might help if I knew what the thing I'm looking for looked like. I did think it sounded a bit like buzzing in a small area, but I saw nothing that resembled a hive. Didn't anything that looked like anything other than grass and stones really. And raptors.

But, no need to despair (as I almost did as I could not return back down to move the raft as long as they were there). During a heavy rain they mysteriously disappeared. I later found a bloody body in the river. I suspect piranhas. Since the raptors are now gone I figure the area is relatively safe at least for a while. I have no idea how long before new ones spawn in. So I went looking for the honey and the dossier. Found the dossier. Still no honey. And it's HOT up there.
To be honest I think the swift temperature changes - or steep gradients - are, well, too steep. You're boiled alive one second and freezing your ass off the next and you only moved a few steps. Hmm and this is why I planned to up my fortitude, but did I remember?

I was running around looking for that stupid beehive, when I came across a diplodocus. Friendly enough, but like Val said it does enjoy tossing you about... (Brontosauruses just ignore you, which might be preferable, although I couldn't resist trying to tame it since it was one of the "feed-tames"). Anyway, while I'm busy trying to dodge the diplo, I'm attacked by two of those flying ants. I manage to kill them and before I can harvest them, I'm attacked by three ground ants. And poisoned. Then apparently I'm also dehydrated and need to find water fast. And my water skin is empty.... and as I'm trying to get my bearings I am once again killed by a pair of raptors.
It's almost enough to make me stop playing.
Actually it IS enough to make me stop for the day. So there.

They tweetered on their twittering machine.
I've never really bothered too much about temperature. I see the little snowflake/ice cube/flame thing appear from time to time but I usually carry on anyway. After looking it up just now I've discovered that holding the H key show the temperature.
I've also been researching the crafting stats for the forge and smithy. Too much hide! It may not be worthwhile at the moment considering my flimsy collection of metal. So I think I might put off that plan and instead spend some time just doing some comfortably dangerous exploring on foot.
