That describes a number of films that don't feature Damian Lewis.

The only memory I have that has both Damian Lewis and soldiers is Band Of Brothers and it doesn't sound like that.

One thing I find funny about Damian Lewis is the way that he pulls an odd face when he's doing that accent, always contorting his mouth to one side. You can actually mute the TV and still tell if he's pretending to be American by the look on his face!

But I agree with Banj, it does vaguely sound like a lot of low budget movies that go straight-to-video before ending up on a late-night TV channel.

It sounds like at least half the horror movies out there, I know. It bugs me that I can't remember it better, though. Not that it was worthy of remembrance...

after trying and failing a youtube video search I guess I have to suspect that either I dreamed the whole movie or it was some other redhead or brownish haired actor...

I don't mind his accent. It's one of the better ones but the visible effort in his face gives it away.


The only thing that keeps cropping up in my attempted searches is Dog Soldiers but I'm sure it's not that. It doesn't seem to fit your plot points although maybe Sean Pertwee could be mistaken for Damian Lewis?

I doubt he'll be that bothered as similar jokes were made when he presented Have I got News for You. To be fair to him I haven't really seen him much in anything where he did an American accent, and I'm not massively bothered by accents anyway.

nope not dog soldiers. It must be a fairly old movie by now - I think it wasn't exactly new when I saw it years ago - and it's possible I got DL confused with someone else. (After having seen him in more TV series, I probably wouldn't make the same mistake today, but I guess I might have, back then...)

and I have to correct my earlier description of the movie... the head stays alive for seconds after being decapitated, not minutes (duh)

I think the film you might be thinking of is Severance.

I think so too! Though there was a lot I didn't recognise.

and is it just me or does Toby Stevens look an awful lot like Damian Lewis? No wonder I was confused...
