I just started watching the pope's exorcist. Might continue later. For now I think I'll return to CK. But anyhow, it always amazes me how movie kids go "Aw, did we leave the city and all our friends for this old junkyard?" when they arrive at some amazing historical piece of architecture. In this case their new home was apparently an abbey but looks like a small castle. How can they wine about it!? I just don't get it. What kid wouldn't adore their own castle to explore???

Did it explain how the pope became possessed in the first place?

:nope:
Not yet anyway :dumb:
I'm a whopping 10 minutes in. Seems to be the time it takes me to finish eating and wanting to do something other than watching TV

I've been rewatching the first season of Arcane to remind myself of the story before starting the new episodes but the thing I'm being reminded of most is how I didn't like the way the smoke/mist was rendered in a different style to everything else.

I never even noticed that. In the second season, at least the first half, I felt like much of it was just kind of music video stuff... I can't recall if I felt that way about the first season. :hmm:

I have now finished the pope's exorcist which is, apparently, based on a true exorcist. I doubt the story itself is, and to be honest the real life guy seems to have been rather unhinged.

Not sure if you remember but years ago some religious zealot claimed that Harry Potter books are bad because they make kids believe in the occult*, or something like that. Or in magic? I mean, an exorcist already believes in "the occult" doesn't he? Anyway, that was him. And apparently yoga is evil too, because it promotes hinduism. :eyeroll:

The film itself wasn't too bad, though. Even if the little kid actor mimicking saying naughty things in a weird voice mostly looked silly, in my opinion.

*Oh and there are studies that show that kids taught that the BIBLE is real have a much harder time distinguishing between facts and fiction than kids who are not, so I doubt Harry Potter is the worst book out there...

According to one source he "performed 100,000s of exorcists"

Other sources counted exorcisms instead and were somewhat more modest but something like 60,000 was mentioned. I'm guessing he did several a day although I'm not sure where he managed to find so many possessed people. Maybe he exorcised the same person (the pope? :hmm: ) over and over?
