Last book you bought - or read
As far as RP1 goes (at least the movie) I always thought the apathy the characters show to some of those weightier themes was part of the commentary on the type of society they lived in as opposed to a failure in the writing.
Now I really need to read the first book to find out.

HAL was being over zealous and thought it was spam, I unspammified them after he emailed me without realising you had reposted. Normally I delete the duplicates if that happens but I wasn't paying attention

While we’re on the subject (kind of) I only recently found out that HAL was a poke at IBM by Arthur C Clarke.
Sometimes these things make me feel extremely dense. Lol.
