I know it will get easier as I go along but he could be better with his introductions.

Well, the first one anyway.
I'll probably alternate with something else when I get to the end of it.
And I have bought some books too!
I usually never buy books and instead rely on library stuff but thanks to ongoing lockdowns and an unexpected giftcard I've have acquired those two James Gurney books. Imaginative Realism and Color And Light.
And very good they are too.

I’ve not read the first book and I’m already (on chapter 2) noticing some discrepancies between the movie and the book. I may have to put it on hold and get the first book if the differences get much bigger.

But it is a long time since I read it so my memory can't help you explaining any differences.

Valence wrote: The first book isn't that great. It's one of those things where the whole idea is better than the writing and the story. The movie was more entertaining because of the CGI spectacle of it all.

In that case I think I'll just avoid reading the book then as I thought the film was pretty poor. It desperately pushes nostalgia and forced sentimentality to try and get you to care about things that have little to no consequence, but also casually ignores things that should have had a great deal more weight and impact given to them.
