Totally Random

Well lookit that. There's a movie tonight that I actually haven't seen and could consider watching... Sin City 2. No idea if it's good but I remember kind of liking the first Sin City.

That was on TV here a few weeks ago and I missed it.

I sort of enjoyed the first one. I liked the style rather than the stories but I still think Sky Captain did that CG comic look a bit better.

Agreed Val but as a movie I thought Sky Captain was extremely poor. As far as 'comic' styles go I think 300 is still the one to beat.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Sky Captain but can't remember anything much except Jude Law and I don't usually like him much. I did like the second Sin City movie as well, I remembered the first one being violent but had forgotten that white "uninked" splash they do when things get bloody. Good thing or it'd be way too much I guess, but as a "gimmick" I kind of like it. The one thing that annoys me is probably the narration, which is needed and works with the comic series style but at the same time so "cliché noir"... Then there's the whole nobody's good, nobody wins and everyone's doing their stuff for the wrong reasons thing with the plot line. Kind of divided about that. But it's refreshing when people aren't straight out heroes all the time.

I really liked Sky Captain until the ending where Laurence Olivier gave the worst performance of his (after)life.
300 was a bit OTT for my tastes but the end credits are fantastic. I would have preferred the whole movie to be like that.

*whine* Why are there so many shows about the afterlife on TV these days? Hollywood Mediums, some girl who's "not only a student, she's a psychic too", Life on the other side, the Unknown... bla blah blah... Much as I like ghost stories and such, if you're going to make "documentaries" at least make them scientific instead of mumbo jumbo...

Am I the only one who'd like a show where they go in search of yetis, ghosts and whatever but have a scientific approach and maybe expose a hoax every once in a while?
