Elder God

Brief: Interpret the title as you wish into some kind of creative visual brilliance.

Deadline: Midnight on Thursday 30th of April. There will now be no voting and no eventual winner, this is just a creative exercise with a time limit.

Rules in brief:
- All challenge entries must be your own work.
- You should post at least two WIP images that are clearly different from your final entry and each other.
- Your final entry should contain your image (inserted so it shows up full size) and at least two links to your WIP posts on the forum.
- No chatter in the finals thread – if you have questions, post them in the WIP thread or PM an admin.
- Feedback is allowed & encouraged together with the voting and in the WIP thread.
- Deadline is given in UK time (midnight UTC) with a grace period of 5 minutes for getting the post sorted.
- Each member may cast one vote.
- No cheating! Admins may decide to disqualify an entry that does not adhere to the above rules.

Would game concepts qualify?
I probably won't be painting much for a while (gonna have to send in the computer for service/repairs again and I'm not sure I'll bother installing much on this older thing...)

Anyhow the other night when I couldn't sleep, as usual, because I nap too much (although I honestly don't know how napping too much is even possible - it's somehow so much comfier than actually sleeping a whole night) I was thinking of games and while I don't usually want to play the villain, I was thinking that being the person actually trying to awaken Elder Gods could be a cool idea. Like you'd have to figure out where each one is "hiding" and travel the world to the right place and do the right rituals... and of course evade those who try to stop you to save the world...

I did have a couple of issues with the idea, like 1) WHY would you want to wake them? and 2) What would actually happen if you succeeded?

Anyway I thought it was kind of fun to think about. And also, how many would there be and what would they represent? Would there be one per continent, or just the magical three or would they all be made up or from existing myths... And then I remembered all the time I tried to paint Pele ages ago... Maybe I'll just give her a try again. (The goddess, not the football player)

Probably. But if you're going to play the insane person you might want to have a reason that at least seems sensible to begin with... And if it stops being sensible you
ll still need a reason to finish. OR the second half of the game would be to put them all back to sleep again...

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought the story was taking a crazy twist at that point.

Today I started scribbling something about some people summoning an ancient ...erm... thing.
I was gonna do this in Blender but then I remembered that last attempt at doing tentacle things with Geo Nodes and how it all went wrong in ways I didn't understand. But we're already two weeks into the month so I don't have time to relearn how to do it correctly on YouTube.
So scribbling it must be...

 

 

And as I saved these WIPs I got annoyed at my lack of imagination again. It's the same composition as that floaty witch picture again.
And it's a bit like that old angry god thing I did in Blender.

Never mind. I'll keep going.
And I will push it all further back with more mist when I get more details in.
