Scribbled this the other day and ignored the hands...

 

Then struggled to find adequate reference for the hands and ended up making my own refs in a 3d pose thingie and then scribbled this...

 

Which doesn't look that great but then I put a box back in and they look even worse when you can't see the thumbs...

Got rid of the box again to work on the face and tweaked the proportions a bit. As soon as I started with details it became obvious that the eyes and nose were too big and too low.

I've been painting some more detail to the hands and ... now they don't seem to match the skin tones of the face.
I can never get that warmth of the skin right, they always look too "orangey".
