Advertising the New Forum

It occurred to me the other day that while ImagineFX did little to advertise their forums, we could. I was wondering if any sort of advertising committee has been set up? Just a thought, but we all seem like pretty mature people and could probably pool a little sum of cash to keep 1.) the forums running since I am sure someone is helping to pay for this (thank you to whoever that may be) 2.) to advertise off-site on other art sites, from ImagineFX to DeviantArt, we could certainly branch out at the very least to advertise ourselves and bring new members to the forums.

I was thinking also, several people mentioned they felt the forums was what made ImagineFX special. Without the forums, and I could be wrong in assuming this, I am guessing some of around here may no longer be interested in subscribing to ImagineFX. The money typically put towards that could be used towards this new site to get artists to make tutorials and feature them here or contests, plus everything mentioned above.

That is actually a good point as far as chipping in to help fund site maintenance. Not that forum membership should require payment but holding a yearly fundraiser or opening a donation pool might not be a bad thing.

You read my mind. We could have an artwork sale or commission fundraiser to specifically raise money for the forums if we do not want to pay money directly out of pocket.

Also, I just noticed the monthly challenge this month. That would make for great advertising, work by the artists.

There is actually a donate button secreted out the way at the bottom of the site for anyone that feels the urge to chip in (and I will take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to those that already have, I was kind of blown away yesterday when I opened my email).

Word of mouth is the best kind of advertising, so giving the site a mention elsewhere would be great, as long as people aren't just going out spamming the internet, a casual mention in conversation is always good.
