Now THIS is pod racing! :aha:

Started off scribbling a landscape...

Then I went into Blender to model the racing thingies...

...which I then used for painting...

...and then I put them together and painted a bit more...

And now I'm messing about in Blender again to try and get some kind of speedy blur that doesn't look terrible. :S

This may well be my final or I might make some final fiddling, but I need to leave it for a bit and take a look with fresh eyes.

I really like this, especially that stylized lack of detail in the face.
The only thing I'd tweak is that lower hand. The transition from the index finger to the thumb could do with reshaping. At the moment the negative space between is a bit wide which makes the finger look too narrow.

But of course if I was painting it I'd leave the hands out all together. :)

I guess I disagree with Valence for once... 'cause I kind of miss a bit more detail in the face...
and some itty bitty nitpicking, but I find his blue trousers a bit too saturated. I feel a less saturated blue would fit with the style better. (That said, I dunno what shade of blue the original might have had...)

Thank you both. I'll see if I can do something about the hand. The legs shouldn't be particularly saturated, but they do look overly so on my old monitor, so I'll play around with adjusting that. As for the face it's intentionally minimalist as I'm going for something along the lines of these pics I have for reference...

EDIT - It actually seems to be more saturated once it's displayed on the forum. The same file shows far less saturated on my computer

Well, I guess I kind of miss a hint of eyes in those two refs too

Edit: Though I'm just now realising that that style is similar to what I briefly considered for the sketch I started this morning and still haven't saved... With an eye, though. Or two. And a different subject matter (possibly kind of connectable to speed...).
