I really like those palette knifey strokes in the background.

Yep, that's my latest gimmick of choice.
And sure enough, they are done with the palette knife with a bit of paint loaded on. It works as a simple way to add a bit of visual interest to what would otherwise be a bland or flat gradient.

Speaking of bland and flat...

I didn't really have much time today so I ended up with this rather loose and expressive thing.



Didn't even get to use my loaded palette knife gimmick.

Definitely not my sketchbook.

Yeah, the generic title thing is a bit annoying. It's actually a recent change they made to stop people posting sob stories with their photos to use sympathy to get people to draw them.

Ah right, that makes more sense now!

If you just want to check out some of the art without the photos then they have an occasionally updated instagram thing where the mods post pics that catch their eye.
Personally I'm a sucker for Evayne's work, the way she does that saturated light is depressing.
