HP Sprout was created by kazky
I keep meaning to post about this, I was at the Gadget Show recently and saw this.

me being gadget obsessed loved this. I remember years ago reading about a Microsoft future that would involve surfaces such as restaurant tables etc having something like this ability. Never happened.

I wonder if future 'Sprouts' will be arty focussed?

Anyway it's very cool. Have a looksee, look at the 'how to' tab for videos

The difference is that Microsoft's interactive table top was basically like a regular screen projecting from underneath the surface, while this thing is projecting down onto the surface like a film projector. It would drive me insane having everything obscured by shadows all the time.

Nope, can't see it as it's obscured by the shadow from my hands :P

At least I didn't burst it this time... :P

Now what I would like to see is a gadget that takes what you create on the computer and materialises it in r... oh wait, that's a 3D printer isn't it? Forget I said anything

Wow, did Kaz really not get that Star Trek reference?
Shameful. Roll two dice and subtract the total from your Geek-Cred value and as punishment do The Picard Manoeuvre three times. :)

As for the Sprout, it does seem like technology without an obvious practical use. At least you don't have to wear a headset.
