Well it turned up today but only 15 mins before I had to leave for work.
Still, I unboxed it and stroked it for a while before my wife dragged me out the house
Artrage download later tonight

I wasn’t expecting to get a fantastic result but something looking vaguely skilful would have been nice.
Still, Paint Shop Pro 2021 is on sale at the moment and as I have no photo editing software on my pc I downloaded that too.
Nothing much appears to have changed since 2005, which I think was the year my other version was released (X2) which is kind of comforting and a little annoying at the same time.

I feel a bit like that at the moment after trying to learn Rebelle.
I remember when I committed to ArtRage after switching from Photoshop Elements I found that my best friend was the Airbrush tool. Setting the hardness to 100% effectively gives you a simple hard round brush. This allowed me to mess around with all the new tools and then switch back to a more familiar basic brush to "fix" all my failures.
Since then I've switched to one of the custom brushes for my detailing (I think it's the "Square" one from the artistic presets; it has a bit of grain and a touch of blending) and that's now my go-to brush when I need some basic colouring.
Good Luck with your learning.

I know you can set the ink brush head to square but I also recall you not liking the ink brush :p
