Oh, no. I've made myself sticky again. I thought the medication was supposed to help with that!

One tweak on this suggestion. Although I know our wonderful admins have nothing better to do than to come here to read our musings and have no other life--this thread will eventually become a forum pruning nightmare for them. Contest posts will be added, contest deadlines will expire and the posts will always remain.

It may help if when we post information and links about a contest that we also post the entry deadlines as Charlotte did in the post above. That way the admins can easily come in periodically and clean house on dead contests so as to reduce clutter and keep things tidy and relevant. I know our admins love to spend all day cleaning up after us and they do it lovingly, but it would be nice for us denizens to help them keep our shiny new house neat.

Of course--we could also do our own housekeeping and delete our own expired posted links (but I have little faith in that approach as my own memory will most likely get in the way). I promise to try though.

I don't think it'll be much of a problem. I think it's a good idea to mention the deadline, but the latest post(s) will always be the most relevant so if someone decides to look for contests way back at the beginning of the thread (once it's grown by a few pages) they'll really only have themselves to blame

I think Charlotte is right. Unless a current contest is buried in pages and pages of waffle (unlikely), then I think it will be fairly clear which ones are still live by virtue of them being on the latest posts.

Are there many other challenges and competitions on other sites? I don't get out much, so I have no idea! Is it likely that we would have such a glut that they may get mixed up or lost in the paperwork?

Just ran across this contest that launched yesterday. Looks pretty open in terms of subject matter, at least that's what it says on the contest brief. There is a $15 entry fee which puts me off as I prefer free contests, but if any of you are braver, then have at it.
