Sculpty 1.
Sculpty 2

Hmm, did I only post two WIPs? Thought I'd done three. :dumb:

EDIT:  A late 3rd WIP.

Anyway...

Well my unnecessary vote goes to Charlotte. :aha:
There are so many things from this pic that I wish I'd put in mine and the biggest of those is the wings. They look suitably fragile and intricate with those delicate little veins and the design suggests the colour and transparency that they would have in life before becoming a fossil. I also like the way that you have loose, detached bones in the hands and feet that stops everything becoming too neat and contrived. Add to that the great colour tones and the believable pose and you have an excellent image that successfully captured my envy. :)

Thank you. I did look at a lot of images of fossils from Solnhofen and of insect fossils in general and it was a real butterfly fossil that gave me the idea for the different colours of the wings.

And while yours might not look like a disintegrating skeleton, I still think it looks like a fossil I'd love to have at home in my (unfortunately still non-existent) collection. I like the darkness of the rock surrounding the fossil and the details of the wings - and I rather like the choice of wings too, since it's not the usual butterfly/fairy wings. I also really love the rock being on a small stand with the little museum notes/tags. And I even did a search for J W Saunders but couldn't conclusively identify anyone :dumb:

It's not me. :paranoid:
It was just a random name I pulled from nowhere that sounded right. :dumb:

I also had a different scientific name which I thought sounded better but then discovered that part of it was a real name used for other insects. :eyeroll:

Well Homo is used for real humans... :dumb: and optera is used for several winged things...

Yeah, I initially wanted to use Homoptera Phantasia but Homoptera was previously used for a specific group of insects that is now classified as Hemiptera. :confident:

Or something like that. :dumb:
Anyway, I changed it and did that last minute re-render for just a single line of text.

You need to re-render...
Fata luminoptera :)
(Apparently Fata means fairy in latin so... that really should be the species name...)
