What about, instead of doing a weekly competitive challenge, doing something like a weekly practice theme? Posting something new each week for people to sketch/study/practice/whatever they feel like doing? Not judged or voted on to take away a lot of the work for mods, just a weekly topic for people to dump themed sketching.

Yeah I think that's a great idea - we only need someone clever and skilled anough to set up the challenges 
(I wouldn't know where to start but I could sure use such practice)
