Well it does feel like "I'll soon have to buy another one", if I need a new one again in 2029...

It's OK, the computers will have replaced us by then 

And they'll want shiny new humans, not old things like us...

I've just come back home from putting Gandalf down
He had trouble breathing yesterday but I couldn't find a vet late on Sunday, so I had to wait until morning. Managed to get an appointment and really hoped he'd just need to treat an infection or something but it was a really bad asthma attack. They had him in an oxygen cage for 45 minutes and he didn't improve, so.... for his sake. (The alternative was a life long medicinal treatment that I feel I probably wouldn't be able to maintain...and with no guarantee he'd not suffer more attacks...) But I'll miss him something terrible. First thing I did when I came home was look for him.

I still miss the cats I had over 20 years ago.
Give Merlin some extra scratches behind the ear.

Already did. But he doesn't like hugging. Gandalf liked hugs and snuggles and belly scratches and just curling up into a ball in my arms.
