always have treats around to offer from your hand if he comes out, eventually he'll get it and understand you bring good things.

well I know chocolate works for me I just have to find something cat suitable (and yes I know that chocolate is bad for them)

Last night was interesting. First I had to get back up and hide the USB charger cable for my cellphone (it's got quite a few bite marks on it now, I noticed this morning). Then I had to get up at 4 am to untangle the kitty from my bedroom curtains. ( he let me lift him up - not that he could run anywhere at the time.) At 6 am I was trying to teach him to use the scratching post rather than my bed and me. He's been attacking pretty much every part of me he could locate, during the night (except my head, thankfully). At about 9.30 am I saw him sitting in the doorway staring at me so I talked to him for a bit. A few minutes later, when I was somewhat more awake, I realised I probably talked to my bedpost.

Still, he's adorably cute

It's good that he's attacking/scratching you.
A quick tip for non-cat owners. When they do pounce on you just let them, and don't pull away! Because of the shape of their teeth/claws it'll tear your skin to shreds. What you should do is just take it and push towards them. It does very little damage to you and you're in a perfect position to tickle that fat belly or stroke under the chin.

But despite saying that I have to admit that I do actually have a scar on my own chin from where one of my childhood cats opened up a nasty wound.
