Bug Hunt

Brief: Interpret the title as you wish into some kind of creative visual brilliance.

Deadline: Midnight on Monday 31st of August. There will now be no voting and no eventual winner, this is just a creative exercise with a time limit.

Rules in brief:
- All challenge entries must be your own work.
- You should post at least two WIP images that are clearly different from your final entry and each other.
- Your final entry should contain your image (inserted so it shows up full size) and at least two links to your WIP posts on the forum.
- No chatter in the finals thread. If you have questions, post them in the WIP thread or PM an admin.
- Feedback is allowed & encouraged after deadline and in the WIP thread.
- Deadline is given in UK time (midnight UTC) with a grace period of 5 minutes for getting the post sorted.
- No cheating! Admins may decide to disqualify an entry that does not adhere to the above rules.

In my ongoing quest to avoid originality I seem to have gone a bit Starship Troopers with this one...

 
 
 

I'm still not sure it the composition works and it's dreadfully messy and I don't really understand ladybird anatomy and...

I was also considering giant bugs (but I haven't even sketched something).

Ladybugs have a head, a mid section and a butt. Mid section is where the legs go. And wings. If I remember correctly. Though when I look at images it does look like the legs are attached to the upper part of the butt

There's also an alarming number of images with ladybugs who have 4 or 8 legs. AI

Yes the number of legs was confusing me, along with some other things. I decided to just guess and then maybe fix it later.
Thankfully I'm using layers again so any necessary changes may be easier.
But I really don't like how messy it is and I'm not confident it will improve in that sense.

Doesn't look messy to me. 6 legs and 2 antenna

Going to throw my hat in the ring with an early sketch and some VERY basic colours.

First time doing anything this involved for years so I may not get finished.  

Way better idea than mine.

And it already looks good in a clean, comicbook way.
