Mech Fauna

Brief: Combine organic and mechanical elements to design futuristic or steampunk-inspired creatures. Think robotic birds, clockwork insects, or biomechanical beasts.

Deadline: Midnight on Wednesday the 31st of July EXTENDED TO Saturday 31st of August.

Rules in brief:
- All challenge entries must be your own work.
- You should post at least two WIP images that are clearly different from your final entry and each other.
- Your final entry should contain your image (inserted so it shows up full size) and at least two links to your WIP posts on the forum.
- No chatter in the finals thread – if you have questions, post them in the WIP thread or PM an admin.
- Feedback is allowed & encouraged together with the voting and in the WIP thread.
- Deadline is given in UK time (midnight UTC) with a grace period of 5 minutes for getting the post sorted.
- Each member may cast one vote.
- No cheating! Admins may decide to disqualify an entry that does not adhere to the above rules.
 

Oh Luckily we did one thing each and not the same thing at the same time!

I hate it when I have really stupid ideas but only realise that they're really stupid after I've wasted several days trying to make them work.

I haven't even begun to think about it, this month seems to have flown past at great speed 

I've thunk about it. But I'm focussing on trying to learn all that Skyrim stuff whenever I have the energy to do anything at all useful..

I then tried to search for some reference photos to maybe help me out with these stupid ideas and the dreadful problems they caused but Google Images proceeded to show me nothing but crappy AI pictures that annoyingly all have the exact same composition that I was trying to paint.
I hate being so unoriginal.

You aren't necessarily being unoriginal as all those AI images just replicated the one or two pictures they scraped originally.

Should we consider extending this challenge for August too? Seeing as there's less than a week left. Or is anyone feeling like they are almost done and that would be most unfair?

I have a couple of WIPs that I've fingerpainted over the last few days....

 

 

...but it's a bit of a stretch to call it "almost done".

I was initially gonna do a steampunk city in the background but all those AI pics that I saw put me off that idea so I'm now thinking of trying to do a farm with maybe a barn or windmill. And that change required me to cut the bull out (seeing as I don't work in layers) and that was a tedious chore that took too long in ArtRage.
I'll probably try and have a go at the background tomorrow so I may have a better idea at the weekend regarding my ability to finish.
But either way, I wouldn't feel it would be unfair to extend the deadline if anyone else wants that.

I guess we'll just let Banj decide
(I don't mind either way, either)
