It's interesting that Rebelle's canvas flip is actually only a visual thing and the saved image is still flipped the other way
(It is supposed to be this way round, I've flipped it back in Photoshop)

I remember when ArtRage had that feature where you could hold down H to flip the picture AND still paint on it. It was really useful but it was apparently a bug rather than a feature and they removed it from the next version.
